Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma* and MSc*

LYMPHOEDEMA PRACTICE

*subject to validation

M Level

The Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/MSc Lymphodedema Practice award(s) provides a framework of specialised education for health care professionals working in this developing field.

This exciting modularised programme is a joint venture between the School of Health Studies and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and builds upon local expertise in this area.  There is a shortage of accredited lymphoedema education locally and nationally yet there is evidence that a high demand exists from health professionals and other workers across hospital, community and specialist cancer and palliative care settings for provision in this field.  The number of specialist posts and services has increased across the United Kingdom (UK) and there is a requirement for post holders to undertake professional development at postgraduate level.  This programme offers you the only UK based masters award in lymphoedema practice led by a national leader in the field of lymphoedema.

The course aims to develop you as an advanced practitioner in lymphoedema practice and enable you to apply your specialist knowledge and skills in the management of patients with mild, moderate, complex and palliative lymphoedema needs.  Further through the development of your knowledge and skills promote evidence based innovative practice, enhancement of services to patients and research and scholarship in the field of lymphology.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants for this postgraduate award are required to be currently practising in the field of lymphoedema and would normally be registered on the NMC or AHP register.  Potential students who do not hold a higher education diploma, advanced diploma or degree may enter at postgraduate certificate level or alternatively as an associate student and undertake modules on a stand-alone basis.  Anyone wishing to access individual modules as associate students, who are not registered health professionals, should contact the course leader to ensure the module and award will meet their requirements.
